Federal Cabinet Approves New Rules to Make Political Parties Fairer and Include More Young Leaders

On Monday, June 15, 2026, the Federal Cabinet of Pakistan met in Islamabad and approved a major new rule called the Political Parties (Amendment) Bill 2026. This new law is designed to change how political groups operate inside the country.
What is Changing?
Simply put, the government is making it a strict rule that every political party must hold regular, fair elections to choose their own leaders. Before this, some parties were led by the same families for a long time without letting regular members vote. Additionally, the new rule requires that at least 20 percent of leadership positions in every party must be given to young people under the age of 35.
Why is This Important?
Think of a political party like a large school club. If only the president's friends get to make all the decisions, it is not very fair. This new law ensures that every member gets a vote to choose their leaders, and it guarantees that young people, who make up a huge part of Pakistan's population, get a real seat at the table to help shape the country's future.
