In a momentous stride toward public welfare, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provincial government has mandated the comprehensive restoration and upgradation of 32 District Headquarters (DHQ) hospitals by the end of the current financial year. Chairing a high-level review at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi issued a directive that any further delay in this critical public health infrastructure project will not be tolerated. This decisive action aligns with the recently approved Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Health Policy 2026, which aims to transform the province into a robust healthcare ecosystem where every citizen, without discrimination, accesses exemplary medical facilities.

Unprecedented Financial Commitment

Officials briefed the Chief Minister that four distinct PC-1s, cumulatively valued at Rs33.085 billion, have been formally sanctioned for this sweeping rehabilitation initiative. Furthermore, the procurement of state-of-the-art medical equipment worth Rs2.55 billion has been successfully executed, with the apparatus already dispatched to the respective healthcare facilities. Civil works, underpinned by approved infrastructure designs, are poised to commence imminently.

This progressive policy framework also encompasses the Khyber Institute of Child Health and other ongoing medical projects, reflecting the provincial government's unwavering commitment to evidence-based decision-making and effective institutional partnerships.
