The Minister for Climate Change inaugurated a massive new environmental project on June 15, 2026, aimed at protecting Pakistan's southern coastline from the dangers of climate change.

What is the Project? The government is planting millions of special trees called mangroves along the coast of Sindh. Mangroves are unique trees that grow in salty water and have very strong, tangled roots.

Why Do We Need Them? Because the earth is getting warmer, the ocean levels are rising, and strong storms are hitting the coast harder. These rising waters can flood cities and destroy farms. The thick roots of the mangrove trees act like a giant, natural shield that stops the waves from washing away the land.

The Big Picture: This project is part of the "billion-tree tsunami" initiative. It not only protects people and homes from floods but also creates a safe home for fish and birds, while also creating thousands of jobs for the local communities who are hired to plant and protect the forest.
