In a paradigm-shifting declaration, the Government of Pakistan has formally committed a monumental $1 billion investment toward artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and development by the year 2030. This unprecedented financial injection is designed to cultivate a robust, self-sustaining AI ecosystem within the nation.

Cultivating Indigenous Technological Sovereignty

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Indus AI Week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif articulated a sweeping vision to transition the country’s youth from conventional IT technicians to elite AI experts. A cornerstone of this initiative is the obligatory integration of a specialized AI curriculum across all federally administered educational institutions, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and select regions of Balochistan.

"Pakistan is poised to join the vanguard of the global AI revolution. By empowering our youth with world-class research capacities and practical digital skills, we are securing our economic sovereignty for the coming decades," the Prime Minister affirmed.

Furthermore, the administration has pledged to disburse 1,000 fully funded PhD scholarships in artificial intelligence disciplines by 2030.
