In a momentous stride toward bilateral economic fortification, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has officially welcomed the signing of nine landmark agreements worth over $440 million between Pakistani and Chinese pharmaceutical enterprises.

Addressing the Pakistan-China Business-to-Business (B2B) Conference on the Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, and Biotechnology Sector in Islamabad on July 17, 2026, the Prime Minister articulated an unwavering commitment to the safety of foreign nationals. "I would like to say with the fullest force at my command that the security of Chinese brothers and sisters in Pakistan is paramount for us. We will leave no stone unturned to provide them with the best possible security," he declared.

Strategic Pharmaceutical Collaboration

The newly ratified accords encompass a comprehensive spectrum of healthcare initiatives, including local vaccine production, advanced biotechnology, drug manufacturing, and technological exchange. A pivotal agreement focusing on the prevention of hepatitis and cooperation regarding the national programme for protective vaccines was also formalised during the proceedings.

Prime Minister Sharif commended local business leaders for their assiduous contributions to the domestic pharmaceutical sector. He emphasised that these agreements are not merely symbolic but are designed to be "implementable documents" that will catalyse the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
