State Bank Reports Record $3.5 Billion in Monthly Remittances from Overseas Pakistanis
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced on June 15, 2026, that overseas Pakistanis sent home a record-breaking $3.5 billion in remittances last month.
What are Remittances? Remittances are the hard-earned money that Pakistanis working in other countries, like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the UK, send back to their families living in Pakistan.
Why is This Record High? The SBP introduced a new, faster, and cheaper digital system for sending money. This system gives workers a better exchange rate and lower fees compared to unofficial money transfer methods.
How It Helps the Country: When families receive more money, they spend it on food, education, and healthcare, which helps local businesses grow. On a national level, these billions of dollars act as a financial shield, helping Pakistan pay its international debts and keep the economy stable.
