Supreme Court Takes Strong Action to Clean Up Pakistan's Dangerous Air

On Monday, June 15, 2026, the highest court in Pakistan stepped in to solve a very big problem: the dirty air that is making people sick.
What is a Suo Motu? When the Supreme Court sees a major problem in the news, the Chief Justice can take action on their own without anyone filing a formal complaint. This is called "suo motu." Today, the court took notice of the dangerous smog in Punjab.
Why is the Air Dirty? Factories, cars, and burning trash create a thick, gray smoke called smog. When people breathe this in, it hurts their lungs, especially children and older people.
What Will the Court Do? The judges have ordered the government to strictly punish factories that break the clean air rules. They also told the police to stop people from burning trash and crop leftovers. This means the government must act fast to give everyone clean, safe air to breathe.
